Christof van der Ven's debut album, 'Empty Handed' is a culmination of years of hard-touring, writing and recording. Having toured the globe a multitude of times with the likes of Bear's Den, The Staves (who feature on the album, providing backing vocals on ‘Oh When the Night’), and The Boxer Rebellion: “these songs are the culmination of my experience of the world to date, the stories from growing up in the Netherlands, moving over to rural Ireland, London and everywhere in between.”

‘Empty Handed’ is a record that draws from influences that include Damien Jurado, Fionn Regan and Grizzly Bear, coupled with a use of expansive synths and chest-pounding, Springsteen-esque instrumentation. Christof’s music has also caught the attention of Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon who after becoming a fan invited him to open one of the dates of his residency at the Hammersmith Apollo in February 2018.

Vor 18 Jahren veröffentlichten The Green Apple Sea ihr Debüt ‚All Over The Place‘. Bis 2011 folgten zwei weitere Studioalben, Tourneen mit Seachange, Smog, Catpower, Fink, Radar Bros und als vorerst letztes Lebenszeichen eine Single im Jahre 2013, auf die u.a. Shows in London sowie eine Einladung zu den Daytrotter Sessions. The Green Apple Sea haben Konzerte und Touren mit Bands und Künstlern wie Seachange, Smog, Catpower, Luna, The Willard Grant Conspiracy, The Silos, Ben Lee, Radar Bros., The Schramms, The Church, Fink, Missouri und vielen anderen gespielt. Nach einigen Besetzungswechseln sind The Green Apple Sea, neben Mastermind Stefan Prange, mittlerweile Frieder Gräf (Smokestack Lightnin’), Flo Kenner (Merger, Apartment Orchestra), Christian Ebert (Missouri), Lena Dobler sowie Frank Schwab und veröffentlichen am 18.05.2018 ihr neues Album ‚Which Side Are You On‘ via K&F Records.
